I just told my mirror that Iam a new creature in Christ and that I am made to reflect his glory!

    Hi Jennifer!
Just last week I was talking to our pastoral counselor at church and I asked him is it prideful to profess our strengths – our gifts. He asked me who gave me my gifts, and of course I said God. He said then I need to profess them because He needs to get the glory. It is so hard to get wrapped up in our minds and continue to think thoughts about how much we sin without giving an equal about of thought to grace that's been given to us as well. I am reminded of Mark 13:34 (The Message): "It's like a man who takes a trip, leaving home and putting his servants in charge, each assigned a task, and commanding the gatekeeper to stand watch." God has given us authority over tasks that only we can do. We need to give glory to God for these gifts and also remember that we have authority over them – to be used for good or not. Through the power of Christ in our lives, we also have authority over our thoughts.

Thank you for helping me to think through this more!
    Have a good weekend!

I really, really appreciated your words here. Authenticity in all ways! I love it. I remember reading somewhere (was it CS Lewis or Andrew Murray??) that true humility is the ability to know yourself and be honest with who you are… all of who you are!! …the good, the bad and the ugly! Real humility and authenticity means a right assessment of yourself…. looking with sober judgment.
Yes, we (I) need to be better at being specific in our confession of sin— real and vulnerable, and humble. Specific confession takes real humility (it is embarrassing). AND, yes, yes, yes!! We need to be able to honestly share, and rejoice with each other, in our specific, unique gifting and the glory of Christ in us. We need to be a people who share His VICTORIES in our lives.
Thank you for sharing your heart and thoughts here. …good, good food for thought.

Yes, these victories shouldn't be buried! His life in us must be celebrated! I find it interesting that this is such a new concept to me! I have been so trained to believe that humility is pushing down talents, gifts He has given. Otherwise, I have a heart filled with pride. Thus, humble confession, married with praise for His glory in me, is where I think I need to be. Thank you so much, Stephanie.

I love this Jenn! Celebrating who God made us to be. Reminds me of the clip shown at MPPC a few weeks ago from Chariots of Fire. I love this line from Eric Liddell in the movie:

I believe God made me for a purpose, but he also made me fast. And when I run I feel His pleasure.

Robin, this is beautiful. I love, love, love that line. Perfect! Thank you!

    Hi Jennifer,

Such a great reminder about being specific in our confession of both our sin and our glory, which is from God and for His glory since He created us.

You are such an example to me by your bold honesty!

    Blessings!
